One might think that as the daughter of a librarian, well a retired librarian that I’d love to read. It’s not that I don’t like to read I just like finding books that grab me. I like to read a book and be so enthralled by it that I don’t want to put it down. So I’m very guilty of starting books and then never finishing them. I can not even tell you how many books have books marks about 30-40 pages in. My mother is always on the mission to help me find books that grab me and peak my interest.
When she started to tell me about her latest read, I was intrigued. I wanted to know what happened….how did the story end. When she finished it, she passed it along to me and I started reading it. Let me just say that this is a GOOD book. There were plenty of nights that I was like “Jessica, you need to go to bed”, but instead I wanted to stay up and keep reading. I wanted to be that kid hiding under the sheets with a flashlight reading.
It didn’t take much reading to realize that Grace’s story is not a fairy tale. Things weren’t as good as they seemed. You learned early on that Jack was not who he portrayed himself to be….he was not Prince Charming. Grace suddenly saw the controlling side of Jack and she didn’t really like it. Jack wanted Grace to quit her job. She couldn’t talk on the phone. And he wouldn’t let her go to lunch with her friends. He was always there. Who was Jack, really?
