Puff sleeves are here to stay and I’m not mad about it at all. The feminine statement sleeve isn’t new. We’ve seen it since the days of Queen Elizabeth. The 70s had its version as did the 80s and we can’t forget about Princess Diana’s iconic wedding dress with puff sleeves.
Puff sleeves make a statement. They are like the I am woman hear me roar of tops. These statement sleeves have a way of attracting attention and asserting those boss-babe vibes.
The style has enduring appeal because it’s powerful. They make a statement and demand attention. You’ll find the extra rushed sleeve and exaggerated shoulder attached to knits, blouses, sweaters, dresses and even blazers. (Although I haven’t spotted the perfect puff sleeve blazer yet.)
Not digging this blast from the past? Reminding you a little too much of a shoulder pad? The puff sleeve is more about femininity and there are so many different levels of a puff sleeve out there.
Start with something simple like this black puff sleeve top that I’m sporting in today’s look. Yes, you can go as bold as I did in this lipstick printed puff sleeve bodysuit but you can also play it safe with the simple grey sweater with puff sleeve debuted here.
