Looking for a good read? Live for suspense? I bring you B.A. Paris’ second book. The Break Down
A page-turning thriller that will leave you questioning the family you love, the friends you trust, and even your own mind.”
Wendy Walker
It all started one rainy night…
Cass had finished happy hour with her friends and she was headed home to be with her husband. Her husband did say NOT to take the shortcut through the woods but she knew if she took it she’d get home faster. Everything would be ok, right? What could go wrong?
Cass was headed down Blackwater Lane, it was a winding rural road, in the middle of a downpour through the woods. But the further Cass drives the more nervous she gets — the rain is really coming down. Why did she leave the brightly lit road behind? Suddenly she sees the rear lights of a car ahead. Sigh of relief. Another car. However, the closer she gets she realizes that it’s not moving. She has to swerve in order to miss it.
As she passes by she sees a women sitting in the car. She stops. Is she in trouble? Or did she stop to get out of the rain? What should she do? See if she needs help? She signals to the woman but no response. The woman hasn’t given her any indication that she’s in trouble. The rain starts to come down even harder so Cass decides to drive away. Off she goes.
“A woman has been found dead not far from here.”
Cass wakes the next morning to this breaking news. A murder on Blackwater Lane. Cass is in shock. No, how could this be. She’s trying to work it out in her head. If only she had remembered to call the police when she got home. This was the woman she drove past. The woman she could have helped. For the next four months this murder is ALL that Cass can think about. She feels responsible for it. Things aren’t adding up. And she’s becoming very forgetful. Who can she trust? She’s starting to feel as though she’s lost her mind, but she wants to find out what happened to this woman. She can’t live with the guilt. You’ll just have to read the book to find out how the story ends…..
