Incorporate Trends into Your Workwear Look

Sometimes it can be intimidating trying to figure out how to incorporate trends into your workwear look. How do you show off your personality but still look polished and professional at the same time? The workplace is changing and we aren’t expected to wear the 80s pantsuit to the office anymore but that doesn’t mean that we don’t still want to put our best professional foot forward.

Today’s Trends

  • Pleated Midi Skirt
  • Snake print
  • Tie-neck blouse

Midi skirts are all the rage right now and making a major comeback. And I don’t think they are going anywhere for a while. I decided to trade-in my leopard print midi skirt and graphic tee for a more office-appropriate look. (Not that the leopard midi skirt can’t be worn to the office.)

I snagged this navy pleated midi skirt from H&M a few weeks ago. Pleated midi skirts are no longer reserved for bridal showers and date nights. Take this twirl-worthy skirt straight to the office. But how you ask? The perfect office-ready look came together when this tie-neck rabbit print blouse arrived in the mail from Amazon. I love incorporating quirky & fun pieces into my outfits.

Tie-neck blouses are the perfect blend of retro fashion and ladylike appeal. And they are ideal for making that lasting impression. You also can’t argue with the fact that there’s a key accessory built into this look. No need to reach for a necklace when the tie-neck blouse is in play.

What better way to marry these two trends than with a great structured vest. No white after Labor Day…well I say rules are meant to be broken. I’m convinced that this vest will elevate any outfit. But I love what it does to this workwear look. And why not finish off the look with a little pattern mixing at its best….snake print shoes. As I make my way through the animal kingdom, I’ve landed on snake print as my animal of choice for this look.

Make It Your Own

So maybe you aren’t feeling the tie-neck blouse and vest and that’s ok. You can never go wrong with a classic button-down shirt. And with a classic button-down shirt, you can add that great statement necklace to complete the look.

  • Add a little floral print to the midi skirt with this great blouse.
  • Have a little fun with color with this cute top from Target.
  • J. Crew has always been one of my favorite stores to get statement necklaces from.

In case you missed it, I shared some great pieces for the office in this post. You’ll see this tie-neck blouse styled in another way.

So don’t worry about looking frumpy at the office. You can embrace the current trends and stroll into the office looking like the stylish boss lady that you are. (Even if you aren’t the boss.)

Dress for the job you want, not the job you have.
