It’s the first day of Spring! I don’t know about you but I’ve been dreaming of warmer weather. We’ve had some cold days in Austin and I’m ready for some sunny, warm days. I don’t know how people up north do it. This has been a COLD winter. On several of the cold days, I’d sit around trying to stay warm and dream of sunshine and warm weather. Thinking of what I’ll wear once the warmer temperatures arrive.
I tend to wear lots of neutrals but really want to add some color into my spring/summer wardrobe. I had the chance to attend Neiman Marcus’ Spring Trend Event for inspiration. They showcased 5 trends for Spring. One was…..
Colorful Personality
Indulge your playful side with watercolor prints, neon brights, and saturated shades of sorbet.

J Crew has offered the perfect beginning to my Colorful Personality spring look and I love the ruffle detail on this top. I love adding a pop of color to my outfits especially in the summer. When it came to this outfit, I wasn’t going to shy away from color. So I added a pop of color in my shoes and in my earrings.
If only I could say that I’m planning a cruise or a tropical vacation. Unfortunately, no big vacay plans in my future. I’ll just save this look for a spring day — a day at the office, a lunch on the patio, a brunch or just a day I want to be colorful.
- Top: J.Crew – Sleeveless mock neck smocked top in tropical floral
- Jeans: Target – Wild Fable high rise skinny jean
- Shoes: turned to my blood orange/red H&M block heel sandals from last year but here a few other options: Target – A New Day Women’s Michaela pump in red or Anthropologie – Dolce by Moho Moxy Nikki heels or Anthropologie – Bibi Lou Knotted heeled sandal
- Earrings: I turned to my old blue earrings again. But I really like these by BaubleBar. I’m loving these by Sugarfix at Target.
- Bag: Zara (OLD) But check out this cute straw bag from Nordstrom. I love the black tassel. Zara doesn’t disappoint with this one. I also like this one from Amazon. It has a longer strap so you can wear it crossbody.
- JUS by Julie – Chia Berry. I was just introduced to these juices and I’m very pleased. This one has a great taste — slightly tart with just enough sweet — it definitely tickles your taste buds. Blended Chia Seeds, Pomegranate, Strawberry, Lemon, H20, Agave (HEB carries a few flavors)
Maybe this top isn’t for you. Too bright. Wrong style. So….
Make it your own….
Ran across these two cute tops at Nordstrom Rack. They have so many cute throw-on-and-go tops. Tops like this are great to have in your closet. You can really dress it up or down — wear them with jeans, pants, a cute skirt or a pair of shorts. Throw on a cardigan or blazer for those chilly Spring days. Pick your favorite sandal and you are all set for Spring. I’m excited about these yellow sandals I found at Target. I think they’ll be so fun for summer.
- Top: Nordstrom Rack – DR2 by Daniel Rainn or Pleoine Bailey Double Pleat Blouse
- Shoes: Target – Universal Thread Women’s Agnes Quarter Strap espadrille sandal in yellow
