The skirt of the summer…

Is the leopard midi. I’ve been anxiously awaiting to share this skirt trend with you. What took so long you ask. Well…I was in search of the perfect one that fit my petite frame. I also wanted one that was versatile and easy to care for. Dry clean only pieces are not my friend especially in the summer.

Some may be over leopard print and wonder why is everyone dressing like a cat. Say what you want, but this girl loves leopard and I’m not about to miss out on the skirt of the summer.

What else do I love…looking cute without having to put in a ton of effort. I like those easy looks that you can throw together and head out the door and look great. (And an eye-catching skirt is always a good starting point.) Look great and be comfy at the same time is my motto. And I do love versatile pieces that you can mix & match.

And this skirt is just that…a great versatile piece that I can wear in more ways than one.

I’m gonna jump on the Workwear Wednesday bandwagon and share a way to wear this trend to work. Stay tuned for a future post on a casual way to wear it.

My Look:

  • Skirt: Target – Girl’s Midi Cheetah Print skirt (Yes, yes I got my skirt from the girl’s section at Target. I had to get it in XL and I wear it as a high waisted skirt but it ends up being the perfect length on me and it was less than $20!) Here’s a cute pleated option. A great everyday midi skirt. A simple, classic style here. Anthropologie doesn’t disappoint with this skirt. The skirt that started the trend. H&M has this one with buttons down the front.
  • Top: Tibi (Old. So I got this top last Spring/Summer during one of Tibi’s huge sales. Tibi is one of my favorite brands but it’s a brand that I have to wait till it goes on sale, so I’m always on the lookout for when they have a sale. This top stole my heart so I bought it in black and in red. I’ve gotten so much wear out of it. I’m just sorry that it’s no longer available so I can’t share it with you, but I’m determined to find something similar to share.) Any black top will look great with this skirt. Not a fan of sleeveless or mock neck then grab your favorite black top to complete this look. Here’s a great replacement. Mock neck tee. This one looks just like a different Tibi style top. Another great option. A black top that’s perfect for the office.
  • Shoes: Vince – Rita Sandal
  • Bag: See it here. Here’s a great option. This one looks just like it but with a lower price tag and it comes in several colors.

Styling Tips:

  • This top would look great with a leopard skirt, but I love this style of top because it can give the illusion of a waist without showing off your waist. This is a great top to wear if you want to camouflage your midsection.
  • Apple shape: go for a high-waisted flouncy skirt. The waistband will hit at the smallest part of your waist and then flare out camouflaging that pesky midsection. Here’s a high-waisted midi with a little flounce at the bottom.
  • Pear shape: go for an A-line style. It will flare out at your hips…that area you want to downplay. Here’s a leopard midi skirt that will work for you.
  • Hourglass shape: Accentuate your curves with a pencil skirt.

    1. Thanks! I love adding red as my pop of color to any look. Did just fall in love with a blue bag from Anthropologie so might be time to change up my pop of color. LOL.
