High-waisted shorts & Stripes

I actually wore this look to brunch on Sunday and then realized that this would be a great outfit for the 4th of July.

Let’s Talk High-Waisted Shorts…

High-waisted shorts are always a good idea in my book. I feel like they accentuate the smallest part of your waist and can be rather forgiving to that midsection area. Contrary to some beliefs they really are flattering to all body types.

Go for a casual or dressy look with your high-waisted shorts. There are a ton of options out there.

I scored several great pair of high-waisted shorts from Zara last year that I wore all season long and I pulled them out again for this season. Sadly these exact white shorts are no longer available but I’ll share a few replacements below. I actually got this pair in black last year, but this leopard print sure is fun.

Stripes…

Prints will come and go. Right now I feel like we are seeing floral prints and animal prints everywhere, but the thing I love about stripes is that it’s a timeless print. Yes, sometimes it might take a backseat to “trending” prints but it’s always there. And I’m thankful for that because I love a good stripe.

I actually bought a new striped tank yesterday while wearing a striped dress. But the thickness of the stripes was totally different so it’s ok, right?

Stripes transition from one season to the next and contrary to what some might think they can be flattering for all shapes.

I love that this one has the mock neck but then you turn around to the back and there’s a surprise. The beauty of this one is that you can still wear a regular bra with it. WOOHOO!!

My Look:

  • Tank: Evereve – Peyton Jensen Open Back Top (TTS). And Evereve is having a sale right now…10% off everything in the store till July 4th. Here’s a great option if you aren’t a fan of horizontal stripes. This one has a little bit of a boho vibe, but if you tucked it into a pair of high-waisted shorts you’d get a billowing effect and it would modernize the boho look. But it would also look great with a pair of white jeans. Not a fan of the open back then here’s a great option. Here’s a great option with a sleeve. I’m in love with this option from Old Navy. My favorite tank comes in a stripe…fear not I have it in this color and the black&white version. I’ve fallen in love with this style.
  • Shorts: Zara (old). These may fit like more of a mid-rise but they are super cute. I love the little slit on these white shorts. Paper-bag shorts are huge this season so grab these. Zara has these to offer and they are currently on sale. With a 4″ inseam, you could wear these to work and they have a cute button detail.
  • Shoes: Vince Rita Sandals. (Yes, I’m wearing these again, but they are my favorite. They go with everything & they are comfy. What more could a girl ask for.)
  • Bag: I love adding a pop of color to my look especially in a bag or a shoe. Today, it’s all about the red bag. This one is from Fashionphile – Givenchy Small Antigona. If you are looking to buy or sell a designer bag, then head on over to Fashionphile. They have a great selection, a great return policy and they offer a fair amount for your preloved bags. They also have a buy-back program. You can carry the bag for a certain period of time and then they’ll buy it back for a reduced price. Here’s the medium size in red. Here’s the small size. Budget-friendly options: Here’s a great alternative in a classic silhouette. I love the handles on this one. Another one with a classic shape. Not only is the price right on this one but it’s cute too. Check out this cutie.
  • Earrings: J.Crew (old).

STYLE NOTE: I think you could definitely wear this look to work. And you could also add a blazer over it to dress it up even more.

Prefer Pants…I got you covered…

  • Pants: Check out these fabulous high-waisted linen pants. These will be great for the summer.
  • Pants: This style is selling out fast and you can understand why. I love the pocket detail.
  • Pants: I think these are going straight into my cart. How cute are these? Another great option. And the inseam is stated to be 23″ which means…petite girls can wear these too!

Happy 4th a day early!!!
