Valentine’s Day Outfits

I’m a little late to the Valentine’s Day outfits game but better late than ugly as my t-shirt says. These outfits will be fun for Valentine’s or Galentine’s Day or whatever you have planned. But these outfits don’t have to just come out for the flower & chocolate-filled day, you can also wear these looks for date night and with a few alterations, you could even wear to work. Which are my favorite kinds of outfits.

Like I’ve said before, a simple change of your second layer and accessories and your look is instantly transformed. Let me know if you want to see more ways to wear any of these pieces.

Confessions of a Shopaholic…

To say that I’m a fan of Nordstrom Rack would be a huge understatement. They carry a little of this, a little of that and something at every price point. It’s always been one of my favorite stores because there really are hidden gems hiding amongst the many racks. Not to mention they are one of the best places to look for shoes.

While some days I don’t have the stamina to rummage through the racks, there are some days where I’m totally willing to put in the time to see what I can find. But I won’t lie and tell you that all of my gems have only been found after hours of searching. Let’s just say that some days I have this sixth sense when it comes to shopping and can just spot & sense where the treasures are. Not sure this is a good talent to have or not.

Sadly, sometimes there is literally just the one gem in the store and I can’t find it online so I won’t always be able to link what I find but I still want to share them with you. Maybe my finds will give you the inspiration or motivation to hop in the car and head to your Nordstrom Rack to see what you can find. I’d love to hear what gems you find at your local Nordstrom Rack.

Now let’s get to a few of my Valentine’s Day Outfit ideas.

Seeing Hearts…

heart print blouse with jeans and red bag

One and only hidden gem is the story of this white blouse with tiny embroidered hearts. I caught a small glimpse of this top with tiny hearts and sheer sleeves so I had to get a closer look. It was the only one on the rack and calling my name. Location: on a rack full of go-backs. But I pulled it out only to reveal the cutest blouse. SCORE! I love when that happens. Truth be told I was probably in the store for about 20 minutes. It might be cliche but I think hearts are fun for a Valentine’s Day outfit.

  • Top: fab find from Nordstrom Rack. All Saints – Amalie Heart top. I wasn’t able to find it online at Nordstrom Rack but check your local store. But I did find it here. I would say that you might need to size up. Here it is in solid white.
  • Red bag
  • Jeans: Good American. Nordstrom Rack has a ton of great options right now.

Never Quiet Your Thunder…

Keep shining!

lightning bolt dress with

Equipment has always been one of my favorite brands. They come up with the funniest prints for their clothes. Again, I was browsing the racks at Nordstrom Rack and this lightning bolt print caught my eye. Of course, the first dress I found wasn’t my size. Insert sad face. But no time to give up…let the hunt continue…

A perfect example of why being a fashion hunter/fashion stalker is a good thing. Never give up even if it’s just in reference to an item of clothing. I’m so glad I kept looking because I ended up finding it in my size! SCORE!! I think this dress will be super fun to wear for Valentine’s Day. After all, who said you have to wear hearts for Valentine’s Day!

But this dress isn’t just for Valentine’s Day. If I still had an office job where I needed to dress up every day, I’d totally reach for this dress. I could totally just change the shoes and voila I’ll all set for the office. Style this dress in more ways than one.

Throw a jacket on over this look. Or add a belt. Hey, you could even pair it with some sneakers for a more casual look.

Blazer & Jeans Style

The Blazer…

So I realize as I write this post that it’s going to be a rather long, but all these pieces have a story to go with them. I’ve always been a fan of fashion stories. I love hearing about how someone fell in love with a piece and went on a hunt and finally found it or they just found something that spoke to them when they saw it and then they tried it on and MAGIC. So, you’ll just have to bear with me as I tell my stories.

So, I’ve been on the hunt for a pinstripe blazer. After hours of searching Amazon, I found one. It was cute and less than $50 so I decided to take the risk and give it a try. Some risks pay off and some do not. This one did not. But I guess I wasn’t the only one because I can’t even find it on Amazon anymore to share it with you as a NO.

You could say that I’m the kind of fashionista that doesn’t give up. If there’s an article of clothing that I want, I don’t give up easily. If something has sold out I’ve been know to stalk it to see if it comes back in stock. Bo

Boy am I so glad that I continued my search because I found this Kensie blazer on Amazon & it is P E R F E C T! It’s everything that I wanted in a pinstripe blazer. Highly recommend it. But the story doesn’t stop there with this look.

“Friends” Tank

This “friends” tank caught my eye some months again but at the time I wasn’t able to find any info on it so I couldn’t add it to my closet. A sad girl was I. I spent hours searching but I came up empty-handed. It pains me to say that I gave up but I kinda had to. I was at a loss of where else to look.

Time passed & I thought this tank couldn’t be mine but then I got an email. No, it wasn’t an email that was just about the tank but how cool would that be. I got an email from Zadig & Voltaire about an archive sale they were having. A 70% off Archive sale. Well if 70% off doesn’t catch your attention & send you to a website I’m not sure what will. I mean you can’t not look, am I right? While they are pricey, they have great, edgy yet classic & fun pieces.

There I am minding my own business looking around when what do you know….there’s the “FRIENDS” tank. I wasted no time in adding it to my shopping cart and checking out. Full disclosure: I did get lucky and get this during their archive sale so I was able to get it 70% off and sale prices have sadly gone up but it is still available.

All the ideas on how to style this tank are racing through my head. I can’t wait to share them with you.

Staying-In

Not going anywhere for the evening. Ain’t nothing wrong with that. Pick up for your favorite take-out or order in and snuggle up on the sofa. You can reach for your favorite comfy clothes or buy something new to wear. I just snagged this short sleeve puff sweatshirt and I can’t wait to wear it.

Comes in 3 colors – click photo to shop

And of course, you couldn’t go wrong with this tee. You can wear it out or pair it with your favorite “Thanksgiving” pants. Who remembers that episode of Friends?

And then add some cozy joggers.

Full disclosure: So I’m having a Sex and the City moment. I feel like in the movie when Vogue publishes the issue with Carrie and the wedding stuff but adds the note at the end that says when this issue was published Carrie is still single & living in NYC. Well…I am single and will be spending my Valentine’s Day curled up on the sofa with most likely Chinese food and a good movie. (and I’m ok with that.) So I’ll be wearing something from the “staying in” section of this post. LOL.
