Today’s post is about a white vest look for the office. I warned you that you’d see this white vest again. It’s going to be on major repeat. Part of me is like….do I need it in black too? Yes ladies, it also comes in black. So you’ve now seen this white vest over a jumpsuit and paired with dressy shorts. So I thought it was time to show a white vest look that was a little more classic and included a closet basic like these black pants.
Elevate your look…
I feel like vests are the perfect way to elevate any look but especially a summer look. Because let’s face it, unless you work in an office where they are blasting the A/C you’ll melt in a blazer in these triple-digit temps we’ve been experiencing in Texas. I’m longing for the days that I can wear a blazer again, but I have to be honest….right now they don’t seem to be in our near future.
A Closet Staple…
A great structured vest truly is a staple that can take you from its power-dressing roots to a casual Sunday brunch look.
As I’ve said before, I’m all about a wardrobe built of closet staples that you can mix and match and dress up or down. When working with clients, that’s what I really focus on. We all want those pieces that can take us from the office to our weekend activities and anything in-between.
Occasionally we want those fun pieces that aren’t going to be that tried-and-true piece that will remain in our closet for years. (a closet staple) Those fun, trendy items are the ones that you don’t invest a fortune on because you know there’s no point in calculating its cost per wear. It’s just for fun and might not last much longer than that carton of ice cream in your freezer.
Now don’t get me wrong…it’s fun to have those pieces that are just that… FUN. Those pieces that don’t mix & match with everything and that just serve a certain purpose for a certain occasion or are that piece that takes you outside of your box. And that’s ok. But this white vest is a true closet staple. This vest is a piece that makes day-to-day dressing infinitely easier. And who doesn’t want easier?
My Look:
- Vest: Zara with pockets
- Pants: Target – Mid-Rise Slim Woven Straight Pants
- Shoes: (old). But here’s a similar option from Amazon.
- Bag: Vintage Chanel. I snagged this beauty years ago for a great price from Style Encore. If you live in Austin, you should go by and check them out. They have a great selection of designer bags at a fraction of the cost. Here’s a similar one from TheRealReal. Here’s a great alternative from Amazon.
- Earrings: fab find from a fun store in Dallas called Flea Style But check out the ones I found below from Amazon. Pretty good replacement if I do say so myself.
Styling Tips:
- When it comes to looks like this, I prefer wearing a bodysuit with it so that I get that clean smooth look and don’t have to worry about my shirt bunching up or not laying nicely in the back.
- Choose one eye-catching accessory.
- A great vest or blazer can easily render the most unexpected outfit office-appropriate. Wearing a graphic tee and jeans or pants, simply add a vest or blazer to instantly elevate your look. (just double check your office dress code on graphic tees)
- Don’t want to show your arms…that’s ok. Grab a great black t-shirt. This one has a fun fringe detail.
- If you are going to wear a short-sleeve top under your vest, I’d recommend matching it to the color of your pants so that you create a column look.
- When in doubt, wear black!
This Maggie Marilyn vest is a splurge piece but I had to share it because it truly makes a statement.
Style is something each of us already has, all we need to do is find it.
