The Return of the Vest & How I’m Wearing It

It should come as no surprise that I love a vest. It’s basically a blazer with the sleeves cut off. And as I’ve said before a blazer can elevate any look so a vest is bound to do the same, right?

No matter what your style is a vest is the perfect transitional piece to move you through all the seasons. And if you live in a hot climate it’s the better choice to the blazer.

Today’s look is all about this olive green vest but…DRUM ROLL PLEASE…It’s part of a matching set! AHH…I love the blazer and short set and you can only imagine how excited I was to find a matching set with a vest. Matching sets really do make it easy to get dressed in the morning.

I’ve always been a big fan of a utility vest, but this one really caught my eye because it’s the sophisticated big sister to your typical utility vest. When I think of utility vest, this is what I think off…

Now don’t get me wrong, I love a good utility jacket. (see how I style one here with a black dress) I have two after all. But like I said this one from H&M is a chic version and will be just as versatile. And a little more office-appropriate for those in need of business casual outfits.

My Look:

• Vest: H&M – Vest with collar I would say this runs a little big. I’m wearing a small…the size I normally get, but I feel it’s oversized. So depending on how you want it to fit keep that in mind.
• Shorts: H&M – Fitted shorts
• Tank: Old Navy (old). I love this multi-color stripe tank. One can never go wrong with a black/white stripe.
• Shoes: Vince Rita – nude
• Bag: I talk all about this red bag here. I am loving this one. You can carry it 3 ways!
• Earrings: Francesca’s – Cork teardrop earring

I’m suddenly nostalgic and in the mood to watch Troop Beverly Hills. Maybe I’ll get a little inspiration from Phyllis Nefler, the ultimate Wilderness Girl. No one wears khaki and olive green like Phyllis. If you’ve never seen it, I highly recommend it.
