There’s the ever plaguing question: to trend or not to trend. It’s human nature to want to try new fashions and be tempted by the trend-driven pieces that flood the streets, the stores, and well Instagram. We get caught in those moments where we want to step out of our box and stray from our wardrobe essentials and try those pretty new things. We see something shining and eye-catching and we’re like…
to trend or not to trend…
I love a classic style with an edgy twist. If ask right now…what’s your style..that’s what I would say. But with that being said sometimes I feel like “my style” is a mood ring. It can change based on how I’m feeling or where I am in my life. I would imagine that that’s normal or at least that’s what I tell myself.
But ultimately “my style” is always in there somewhere. But I’d be lying if I said that I didn’t get drawn into the hype and temptation and want to join in the fun and try the latest trends. I mean some of them are amazing.
And if I’m completely honest I’ll say that these “trends” sometimes end up in the donation pile, but that doesn’t mean that I didn’t enjoy the trend for a moment. So when it comes to trends I like to find them on a dime. This isn’t to say that some won’t get to remain in my closet for more than a season, but whatever their shelf life is I know I don’t want to break the bank.
Breaking the bank should be saved for those wardrobe-essentials. Splurge and spend the money on those pieces that will be in your closet for years and make you feel like a million bucks. Those Audrey Hepburn, Jackie O pieces. Because let’s be honest….if you don’t feel good in what you are wearing it affects your mood. Hey, it can affect your entire day.
But let’s get back to the topic at hand.
The leopard top…
This top is a great piece. It’s fun, it’s sassy and it’s on-trend.
I’m not sure how long it’ll remain in my closet…only time will tell. But I will say this…I’m loving it at this moment so I’m gonna wear it every which way I can think of.
So today, I wanted to share two ways that I’ve worn it so far. You might recognize the style as well as the print. I’m a firm believer in if you love something you should have it in every color. Check out this post with the skirt in this pattern and here I share this same top in black. Oops.
Well, I’m consistent in what I like. LOL.
Look 1:
- Jeans: Target – Women’s Relaxed Fit High-Rise Cropped Straight Jeans – Universal Thread™ Light Wash
- Top: Target – Women’s Short Sleeve Deep V-Neck Wrap Top
- Bag: Amazon – Steve Madden bag (stay tuned this bag underwent a facelift)
- Shoes: Target (sadly it looks like these are no longer available)
Look 2:
- Shorts: Zara (old), but they are back! (updated 10/2/19) I’m so sad these aren’t available in black anymore because they are by far my favorite shorts. (I also have them in leopard print.) But you can get them in red and this lavender grey color. But I just noticed these faux leather ones on Zara’s website. Maybe a good alternative. Here’s a similar option from Revolve.
- Top: Target – Women’s Short Sleeve Deep V-Neck Wrap Top
- Shoes: Shocker…my Vince Rita Sandals.
So as we go into the weekend you can decide if you’re going to embrace the trends or stick with your wardrobe-essentials. You can’t go wrong either way. Just be you!
Fashion is like eating, you shouldn’t stick to the same menu.
