What I’m Wearing While I Wait for Fall

So, I’m just a girl standing in a store wanting to buy all the pretty new things for Fall. But alas I can not enjoy it right now because it’s still 90 degrees in Texas. I am dreaming of the day that I can wear a blazer or a sweater outside without sweating. So today I’m sharing what I’m wearing while I wait for Fall.

With October here, I’m trying to retire my summer pieces and embrace Fall but I mean let’s be honest….I still have to figure out how to dress for the heat.

Warning: you will see this red leopard midi skirt again and again. Did you see how I styled it here with a white vest?

Today’s look is the perfect look to transition into Fall because when and if those cooler temps arrive all I have to do is add a denim jacket or moto jacket and I’m all set for Fall with this look.

My Look: What I’m Wearing While I Wait For Fall

  • Skirt: Sanctuary – Everyday Midi Skirt
  • Tank: Spiritual Gangster – Do All Things Rose Tank
  • Sneakers: P448 – John Leopard sneakers. Can get them here or here (Note: these are a splurge but they are so fun & add that fun element to so many looks and they are comfortable which is important in my book.)

Fall…I’m Ready

  • Denim Jacket: This one is super old from J.Crew but here are a few other options. Classic option from Amazon. Another cute option from Amazon with a little embroidered detail. Light wash distressed option from Target. This classic one from Target is currently buy one get one 50% off. And it comes in two colors.
  • Bag: I bought this bag from Amazon and it was actually solid black at the time of purchase and then I had a little painting party and customized it. (It comes in two other colors)
  • Leather jacket: Bought this leather jacket last year from Nordstrom. It’s that Trouve brand. Sadly it’s no longer available but here are a few other options. One // Two
  • Black boots: Marc Fisher LTD ‘Yale’ Chelsea Boot. I have been so happy with these boots. They are really comfy. Already shopping at Amazon then add them to your Amazon cart to make shopping even easier.

Let’s Talk About Pattern Mixing

Who said you can’t wear multiple animal prints in one outfit? Well if there’s a rule then today I’m breaking it and I’m gonna keep on breaking it because I’m obsessed with leopard on leopard.

How to Make It Work…

  • Choose a Color Combo & Stick to it: pattern mixing can be scary but if you stick to the same color scheme then you know the colors are going to work together so there’s a good chance the patterns will too. (just keep in mind the scale of patterns.) P.S. And you’re always safe with a neutral color scheme.
  • Layer in Solids: If you want to take a walk on the wild side and go with really different prints, then go for it! And so you still feel put-together with these different prints going on then grab a neutral layer like a blazer or a vest and some minimalist accessories to complete the look. The neutral layer will help you avoid pattern overload.
  • Stick to the Basics: Not sure you can pull off the busy prints? That’s ok…stick to the basics and go for stripes and dots. A pattern combo that’s always a hit. I also think that you can’t go wrong with stripes and leopard — another personal favorite of mine. Did you see how I combined them here and here?
  • Keep your eye on size: Generally speaking, you’re going to want a big pattern and a small pattern. Two big patterns just fight with each other.

Make It Your Own:

  • Midi Skirts: I love this one from Amazon. Go for polka dots with this skirt from Amazon. Loving this one from Nordstrom.
  • Graphic Tank: Johnny Cash tee here. Let’s Wine About It tee here. California Dreaming here.
  • Leopard sneakers: These platform sneakers are super cute. Leopard with a pop of red…SCORE! Also loving these from Amazon by Steve Madden.

  1. […] Can’t stop, won’t stop. I don’t think I’d be exaggerating to say I’m obsessed with this skirt. But what can I say….the quality is good, the cut is good and the price is very reasonable. (Check out the link below because I found it on major sale.) I have this urge to find this skirt in every color and pattern and add to my closet. I’ve styled this skirt several different ways but today I thought I’d go for a date night look. But check out two other ways I styled it here and here. […]
