What’s in my Make-up Bag Right Now

Today I wanted to take a break from fashion and share what’s in my make-up bag right now. Some of these products I’ve used for a while and some are new discoveries.

The List:

1. Brush

So, I’ve always been a fan of bronzer. I’d get my makeup done and they’d use bronzer and I loved the sunkissed look that it gave me. Highlighted the right areas. When it came time for me to apply it, it was a disaster. I was 3 shades away from being a clown. It wasn’t a good look. I tried figuring out the best way to apply it, but it just never looked good. That was until I found this brush. This brush changed everything for me. I was able to apply it just like the professionals and for the 1st time, I was able to give myself that sunkissed look. Granted, this is an expensive brush, but it lasts. I think I’ve had mine for 4-5 years now and you’d never know. So if you are like me and not a master at applying bronzer then check out this brush. Believe me, you won’t regret it.

2. Bronzer

So of course when I got my makeup done at the Trish McEnvoy counter they used their products. I love this bronzer! I just feel like I’m able to get that natural look and I don’t have to be extra careful about how much bronzer is on my brush. I’ve tried other kinds of bronzers and none have measured up to this one. I am going to keep looking for a more affordable alternative, but I haven’t found it yet. Hey, if you have one I’m all ears.

3. Foundation

This one is a new discovery and one that I wish had a lower price tag but I’m very particular about my foundation. I DO NOT like the caked-on look. I’d rather you see my imperfections than for me to feel like I have layers of foundation on. It works for some people, but it just doesn’t work for me. I want make-up that feels light and that I don’t even realize it’s on. I’m not a fan of heavy make-up. This foundation is so lightweight and just glides on. And I love that the girls at Nordstrom found a perfect match for my skin tone. It blends in beautifully! And it’s very buildable so you can easily apply additional layers to get the coverage that you want. I’ve been using the beauty blenders to apply it which I feel really makes a huge difference with the end result. It helps you even it all out.

Nordstrom claims: “What it is: An air-light foundation that illuminates, smoothes, hydrates, minimizes pores and reduces wrinkles for perfect skin.” – And I would say that they aren’t kidding. I love how light it feels on my face.

4. Magic Away

This is intended for under eye coverage and it works pretty well for that but I’ve been using it to cover those imperfections that I want to hide. This is another product that feels good on the face and does a great job of concealing those little imperfections. It really is magic and washes away those pesky pimples.

5. Setting Powder

This is pretty new for me. For years, I used a foundation powder so I didn’t really need a setting powder, but I’ve recently switched back to foundation. I felt that I wanted something that would set my face and give more of that matte flawless finish. After reading a few beauty blogs, this one came highly recommended so I decided to give it a try. And they were right. It’s a great product. I also apply this one with a beauty blender and I feel like it’s the perfect finishing touch to my foundation.

6. Eye Cream

If you read any blogs or visit Instagram on the regular, then this Tula eye cream is not new news to you. I heard so much about it and everyone was raving about it so I had to give it a try. Most mornings I wake up and I have bags under my eyes. Sad face. And there are all the home remedies you can do…cold spoon on the eye or tea bags. And those can work, but I love this product because you can just roll it on and give it a minute and suddenly not only are the bags gone but the under-eye area is brightened. Instant results. And I don’t know about you but I’m a girl that loves to see instant results. (If only weight loss was that easy. Or breaking a bad habit.)

7. Lipstick #1

I’ve talked about this one before. It is still my mission to find this in colors less nude, but this is my go-to on those days that I want a nude lip. It adds just enough color without being bold. What I love about this lipstick is IT DOESN’T COME OFF EASILY. You heard me…you can drink away and it stays. I will warn you that when you first apply it it’s almost shiny and looks wet, but it dries rather quickly and then the only way to get it off is to do some serious rubbing or eating.

8. Lipstick #2

So I like this MAC lipstick don’t get me wrong. But it does have a little it of transfer. I’m one of those girls that has her YETI cup by her side and I’m constantly drinking water so I know all too well which lipsticks stay and which I will see on the rim of my YETI cup. This one leaves a little color even though it claims is that it stays. But I will say that I do love the color VELVET TEDDY. So even though there is minimal transfer this is part of the top 2 lipsticks in my make-up bag right now. This is another great everyday lip color. It adds just enough color to give me life but it’s not a bold lip. This is also a color that will work on almost any skin tone.

9. Mascara

I know I’ve talked before about MILK Makeup mascara. And I do really like it, but I may have found a new love. Lately, I’ve been using up a bunch of my sample make-up products so I’ve had the chance to test a lot of mascaras (some expensive ones). And I have to say that right now I’m loving this one. It adds volume to my lashes…PLUS. It’s not flaky…SCORE. And you just don’t feel like you have mascara on. Oh… and how could I forget the best part…it’s less than $10. Can I get a WOOHOO?

10. Mascara Primer

You might be asking, Jessica why do I need to use a primer? It’s an extra step and does it actually help? It not only boosts the effects of your mascara but it does truly add volume. I’m fortunate enough to have good eyelashes, but there’s nothing wrong with adding that little something extra to really give them volume. And these two products combined does just that. And I’d like to add that my mother was not blessed with the same eyelashes as me (sorry mom) so I thought she was the perfect guinea pig for this product. So I took her her very own primer and she can really see a difference. It adds volume to those with minimal eyelashes. Just don’t forget step 2 (the mascara) otherwise you’ll be walking around with pale pink lashes.

11. Beauty Blenders

These have just changed the way my makeup looks. They really do give that flawless finish to your makeup. I shared them here as well.

So that’s what’s in my make-up bag right now. What’s in yours that you just love and want to share with us?
