Five Fab Finds: Trader Joe’s

A few years back I worked with someone from California and she’d always talk about Trader Joe’s and how much she loved it. I kept thinking...ok what kind of a grocery store is this. And then we got our very own Trader Joe’s and suddenly I understood her obsession.

I don’t go as often as I should but every time I go I find a new favorite.

This week my Five Fab Finds comes from Trader Joe’s. I’ll be sharing an old favorite and a few new favorites.

Hatch Chile Mac & Cheese

I may be grown up but you can never take the love for mac & cheese out of me. Sometimes a girl just needs a good ole box of Kraft mac & cheese. But I have expanded my food repertoire to include “fancy” mac & cheese. LOL. This Hatch Chile Mac & Cheese is so tasty. Has just enough of a bite to it but it’s not crazy hot. It’s a great side dish or you can make a meal of it on its own. I like to keep a box of this in my freezer for those moments when a girl just has to have some mac & cheese.

Creamy Chicken & Poblano Ravioli and Pepita Salsa

Trader Joe’s always has these tasty stuffed pastas. They have their regular flavors and then specialty ones. Of course, I always fall in love with the specialty or seasonal ones and then can’t get again. Well, not this time…I bought extra of this pasta and put it in the freezer. Yes, it’s that tasty. When I saw this the other day, I just had to try. I love pretty much anything hatch chile or poblano and I always like to try new things. But I kept thinking about what kind of a sauce should I use? And then I saw this Pepita Salsa. Sounds interesting…sure why not…let’s give it a try. Can I just say MMMMM MMMMM GOOD. A very tasty combination. This pasta does have a little kick to it so if you don’t like spicy this isn’t for you. I’m not even sure how to describe this salsa. It’s just good. I heated some of this salsa on the stove and added a little broth to thin it out a little. Very pleased with this quick creation on the aisles of Trader Joe’s. I will make it again. It’s a great quick throw together dinner option.

Corn Chip Dippers & Hummus

This is also a new discovery and I’m hopeful these chips don’t go away. They were offering this as a taster otherwise I’m not sure I would have paired these two together. But I’m so glad that they did. May not be a healthy snack but sure is a tasty one. I’ve become a fan of traditional plain hummus and this one does not disappoint. This will probably become my new go-to hummus. I was getting Cedar’s Hummus from Sprouts but this one is pretty close. It’s just fresh and creamy tasting. Feel like you are eating hummus at a Mediterranean restaurant. You could get really fancy and put some in a dish with a little olive oil and pine nuts.

Let’s talk about these chips…they are basically Frito’s with seasoning but it’s this great flavorful slightly spicy seasoning. These chips do have a little bite to them so if you don’t like spicy then these are not for you. But if you do….try these chips and try them with hummus. You can thank me later.

I found a few other tasty items from Trader Joe’s so you can expect another Five Fab Finds from Trader Joe’s. I have also started getting fresh flowers from there. They are gorgeous and affordable so why not have fresh flowers every week. They bring cheer to your space.
