How to wear a Jumpsuit

Hello, it’s me again…the polka dot jumpsuit. Today I’m sharing how to wear a jumpsuit 4 ways.

What was first a trend is now a staple in many wardrobes. Jumpsuits have become a great alternative to the pant and top combo. It’s the one-and-done outfit like I shared in this post. A great fitting jumpsuit is perfect for when you crave the comfort of pants but you don’t want to have to mess with coordinating an entire ensemble.

Jumpsuits are for everyone.

Not everyone thinks they can wear jumpsuits. Some people run from them and completely ignore them when they walk by them on the rack, but you don’t have to. It’s all about finding the right style for you and like many a thing….finding the right anything takes some time. It’s trial and error. Just like you have to kiss a few frogs before you find your prince you are gonna have to try on a few jumpsuits before you find the right one. Tip: You don’t want your jumpsuit to be tight. Jumpsuits are meant to accentuate the waist but not be skin tight.

Endless Options.

There are so many options and styles out there. Don’t give up! Fabric is a big factor as well as length. And if you don’t like strapless or spaghetti strap…that’s ok. There are so many options out there than you can wear a regular bra with. Look for one that billows a little at the waist if you don’t want all that waist definition or if you do then find one that you can add a great belt to. A belt is a great way to add that definition to your waist.

Fit is difficult. That’s why I was so excited to find this one from Old Navy because it comes in petite so I get to enjoy a cute cropped jumpsuit and I don’t have to have it hemmed.

For the most part, styles that are fitted at the waist and then looser on the legs are going to be the most flattering.

Don’t judge a jumpsuit by how it looks on a hanger. I would have missed out on a lot of great jumpsuits and clothes for that matter if I judged pieces based on how they hung on the hanger.

What are your needs?

Something else to think about when shopping for that great jumpsuit…do you want a jumpsuit for a casual or formal look? Consider where you plan to wear your jumpsuit. What do you need?

A lot of different things to consider, I know. But believe me, it’ll be worth it when you find one that you love. You can dress a great jumpsuit up or down. Jumpsuits are great to throw in your suitcase on a trip because you can change up the look with different accessories and layers.

Searching for a jumpsuit…

Anthropologie and Zara are two other places you can find some great jumpsuits. And the nice thing about Anthropologie is that occasionally some styles come in petite. The jumpsuit I’m wearing here is from Anthropologie and it’s a petite. I’ve had this one in my closet for years. (So, I have a thing for polka dots.)

So, throw caution to the wind and embrace the trend! How are you going to wear your jumpsuit?
